For the first time, since we started collecting for Children in Need (over 15 years ago), it was actually warm – especially as we were dressed in monkey suits !! The collection took place at Tesco Extra in Risca. We met at 1pm in the car park – the first job of the day was to change the wheels on Gordon's Megapin (a bike engine hill-climb car). Once the slicks had been fitted we processed down the access road and into the main car park where we set up our stand outside the front of the store.
(Our thanks must go to Helen, the Community Champion, for arranging the car park to be sectioned off for us).
As can be seen from the above picture we had 3 cars in attendance. Tesco's shoppers had quite a shock seeing a Hill-climb car in the car park and were very interested. Many children, parents, and even grandparents had their photos taken in the various cars, however Gordon's was the most popular.
There was even a Monkey in the Megapin!!!!!!
We managed to raise a total of £405.81 for Children In Need.
